Erin Ranney

University of Richmond, B.A., Rhetoric & Communications Studies, Criminal Justice University of Richmond Law School, J.D.

Erin grew up in a house that valued hard work, respect, and customer service.  Working at her father’s restaurant from the age of 10 until she graduated from college, Erin learned first-hand that the customers you worked hard for and treated well came back and treated the business well.  Leaving for college was tough, but Erin is proud to be a Richmond Spider, having earned her Bachelor of Arts and Juris Doctorate from the University of Richmond.  Her post-graduation legal career began as an Adjudications Specialist at the Virginia Department of Health Professions, where she represented the Commonwealth of Virginia in administrative proceedings in actions pending against those licensees overseen by the Department of Health Professions.

Erin and her husband subsequently moved to Hampton, Virginia where Erin enjoyed her position as an Assistant Public Defender in the City of Chesapeake.  She represented Court-appointed individuals in all criminal matters pending before the Court.  Erin’s extensive experience included representation through all phases of a criminal case.

Upon her family’s return to the Richmond area, Erin changed sides in the courtroom and became an Assistant Commonwealth Attorney for the City of Hopewell, Virginia.  Her experience prosecuting cases in that Court has given her invaluable insights on how to better prepare your defense, regardless of the type of case you have pending.

In her free time, Erin is proud to be the Troop Leader for Girl Scout Troop 5227, Girl Scout Troop 4218, and serving the Falling Creek Service Unit of the Girl Scouts of the Commonwealth of Virginia.  The girls in her troop range from 6 years old to 16 years old and Erin loves having the opportunity to work with our future community leaders several times a month.

Erin’s background of seeing the results of hard work and good customer service make her a good choice to represent your interests in a court of law.  Please give her a call today to discuss your important situation.

Paul Ranney

University of Delaware, 1999, B.A., History

University of Richmond, 2005, J.D.

Paul has always believed in working hard and working smart.  The youngest graduate in his class at the University of Delaware after only 2 and a half years of study, he realized early that he valued two things: having good working relationships with people, and protecting the assets of people and companies.  Upon graduation, he spent time working for Edward Jones and Hallmark Cards before pursuing a law degree to further his business acumen.

After meeting and marrying Erin in law school at the University of Richmond (and attending many Blue Hen – Richmond Spider football games!), Paul went to work for the Virginia Department of Taxation in their legal department.  While there he worked as a policy analyst focusing on personal income tax matters for hard-working Virginians.

Paul and Erin subsequently moved to Hampton where Paul worked in private practice at a small firm in Hampton.  While there he handled a variety of cases for his clients.  His primary focus was in drafting wills, trusts, power of attorneys, and advanced medical directives for clients of all ages.

Today, Paul spends his time preparing estate planning documents and helping with estate administration for his clients with the firm.  He also serves on the Board of Directors for CANCER LINC.  He specializes in accommodating clients’ busy schedules in working on their cases, with evening and weekend appointments available.  Please give him a call today to discuss your important situation.
